I wish I had a big yellow umbrella that would keep all the rain out of your life. I would hold it over your head, and the drops would splash, splash, and you would never even feel them. But I don’t have a big yellow umbrella, so I’ll walk through the rain with you.
Holly goes on to say that the friend she wrote these words to received them gratefully and over the next few years, they walked together through many storms in their lives. This poem eventually became a card that touched thousands of other lives.
Holly wrote, “Through that experience God showed me that we are not intended to go through our storms alone. We all need ‘foul-weather friends’ who will venture out into the weather with us. Storms and sorrows both lose some of their strength when they are shared.”
Beautiful. Thanks, Holly.
