The greatest need in the world is love. To quote author, Kay Kuzma, “love is our basic need. We’re all very much like “love cups”. When we’re full to overflowing, we have enough love to give away. But when we’re empty we are miserable. We so often try to fill ourselves up. We equate love and attention. So often when we feel empty, we do crazy things like show off, or gossip, of put other people down so we look better. We have a way of trying to get some kind of attention. And yet what often happens is instead of getting filled up, we get emptied.”
Bailey is our love-cup cat. He doesn’t like to be held. He wants his feet on terra firma. Be warned. If you pick him up, he’ll squeal like a pig! His favorite thing is to be petted while lying on carpet. We have wood floors with accent rugs. I’ll try to paint a picture for you ~ you know, the thousand-word kind? I know when he has an itching needing scratching because he will make a little sound (sorry, can’t put into words) and make a beeline for a piece of carpet. You can hear when he plops on his side because he sounds like he has just knocked the wind out of himself.
Bailey rolls around on his back, occasionally looking up to see if I have gotten the message yet. If he sees me coming he puts his head back down and waits for me to stroke his belly, scratch his ears, rub his head and boy, he’s into it. He gets his diesel engine going and it sounds like its way overdue for a tune up. He’s just getting his love cup filled to overflowing. But he must leak a little, because throughout the day this scene is repeated over and over. Gotta love the little guy. And bending over is good exercise for me too. So it’s a win win.
It is beautiful how God has done everything at the right time. He has put a sense of eternity in people’s minds. Ecclesiastes 3:11
And God has made you complete in Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in Him, so you can see and hear Him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without Him. When you come to Him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything. Colossians 2:10, God’s Word & The Message
These scriptures are two of my favorites. If we put them together, they say something like this to me: I made you with an eternity-sized hole in your heart that nothing can fill but Me. I want you to crave Me like I crave you. Let’s spend time together like best friends do. As we love each other you will see that I am the only one you need. Yes, My child, I complete you.
